Unfortunately the problem occurred again on the way home for lunch. I will give the throttle body a good cleaning just to be sure there isn't any carbon causing the throttle valve to stick. I'll also check the grounds on the engine and down by the radiator to be safe.
Uneducated wild guess: It almost seems like something is telling the IAC valve to increase the idle when the glitch occurs, since it comes back down to normal when the speed sensor detects that the vehicle is stopped. I don't know enough about LH2.4.2 to even guess as to what sensor may be sending the wrong signal, if that is the case. Maybe the IAC itself is starting to go, but apart from this intermittent issue, the idle is probably the most steady its been in years.
