I just took it for a drive and pulled off the road to listen to the engine while hot. With my ear up to the idle air control valve and manually throttling the car, after the throttle is closed, I could hear the air coming through the valve faintly and the car nearly stalled, and then a second or two later it surged with more air and the car came back to life. I unplugged the valve and throttled it again- the car still tried to die. I’m not sure if this indicates anything- clearly the valve is working, but it seems to hesitate too long. The one thing that stood out to me is that the rpms surged back up exactly in conjunction with the increased air I could hear.
The valve is so expensive I haven’t wanted to replace it yet. Is there any way to adjust these valves?
