Firstly, S Carlson, I hope your symptoms are mild and wish you a speedy recovery. Hopefully you don't get long term covid which really sucks.
The whale tail I pulled is a factory Saab. It had 4 screws through the Saab factory holes (didn't use the middle one), 2 slightly forward of that and towards the outside (possibly trough factory holes as well) and then 2 further aft and outboard. No adhesive goop anywhere.
Prior to removing, I didn't notice if there were holes visible near the corners of the glass like Saabina has.
I'm not really concerned with it flying off while driving so much as being weakened from closing the hatch over and over.
Unfortunately, most of the former screw holes need to be repaired. They look similar to the "buttress" just right of center in your pic. I'll fill all of them before I mount it (whenever that may be) so I can start fresh rather than try to match the old holes.
Thanks guys!
Tushy
