Interesting data and analysis, for sure. Thanks. As far as what Chris Myles would recommend, I'd also love to have him pop in. He's done two of my transmissions and since I favor Redline, I've got to think he recommended it to me at some point in the past (although I don't recall). The current transmission in my car was rebuilt by Jerry Danner (I was out of touch with Chris at the time I needed the rebuild) and he favors Redline.
As to the transmissions built by Chris vs. Jerry, I though I should clarify the back story, somewhat. My first Myles transmission had absolutely zero issues and performed brilliantly for 7 years. Unfortunately, I bottomed out very hard on a poorly designed intersection and cracked the case from the impact, creating a leaky mess (still shifted fine). I was out of touch with Chris and had heard great things about Jerry, so I got him to rebuild another transmission that I had as a spare. Jerry also does great work (I am now on year 3 with that unit) and the cracked case transmission is in storage. When Chris ran an ad here that he was back up and running in the rebuilding game, I bought another back up unit from him, so I now sort of have 1 1/2 good backups. I've bought a bunch of the special tools needed for this type of work and one day hope to swap the case on the broken one myself (and learn a few things).
Jerry has retired and so no longer is an option for getting a transmission rebuilt, So Chris is one of the only two I'd go to for this sort of work. The other would be Scanwest, who I have heard great things about but have no personal connection with. Chris remains my go-to for all things 5-speed these days.
