88 900 turbo
Symptoms:
with car off and parked and clutch in:
- Shifting to 1st feels very notchy to move left
- 2nd gear will not got at all
- shifting from 1st to 3rd starts feeling 'bound up'
- then going to 3rd to 4th, it feels all bound up
- once I work 3-4 5-10 times going into 1st or 3rd feels normal again.
what I have checked
- The shifter rubber dampener looks good and is attached firmly. I had an assistant shift around and both sides (transmission side and the shift rod side) move in tandem.
- The alignment pin on the shifter housing lines up perfectly for 3rd gear.
- The transmission alignment pin lines up perfectly for 3rd gear.
- Transmission level is correct and 10W30 is being used.
- Motor mounts inspected and in good shape.
I am leaning towards an internal issue with the shift forks or selector inside the transmission. I would love to be wrong. I understand one can inspect those with the side cover off but I wouldnt know what to look for and also, without a lift its a real pain for me to crawl around.
Anyone have any ideas as to what this could be? Much help appreciated.
Thanks
