No start, no spark, no fuel Posted by rreid [Email] (#3508) [Profile/Gallery]

Howdy, I picked up a 1990 900 SPG a few months back after being away from 900s for the last 20 years. I've got a problem that I never ran into with numerous 900s I had over 17 years previously. I'll try not to ramble much.
The car had a ...007 distributor with a spliced hall sensor connector to back adapt it to the existing hall sensor wire. The connector was cracked and zip tied to keep it from flopping around. The car ran well driving short trips while I figured out what the initial to do list was going to be. On the last short foray, the connector wiring got gobbled up by the reluctor. I barely got home with the car misfiring.
I decided to locate an original ...010 dizzy to put the car back to where it was from factory.. I got one that had a spliced hall sensor wire and cracked connector, and then another that was obviously much newer with intact wiring and connector. This last one was tested in another car and it worked well. I installed it, soldered the wiring in for the original square connector, and it would not start.
I'll list what I've done-
Turning the key gets no fuel pump start.
Tachometer bumps a little when key is turned.
With the dizzy loose in hand, no cap, plugged in to the hall sensor wiring, coil wire laying close to ground, key on, when I twirl the rotor, there's no spark from coil, but i can hear the injectors engaging.
No spark at spark plugs when cranked.
Jumping fuse 30 to 27, the fuel pump runs the fuel pump, and after doing that I can faintly smell gas. I've pulled the plugs and dried, checked gaps.
ECU fuse 22 is good.
Checking the three pins on connector on the wire side, One is confirmed ground (black), one is hot with key on, the other is nothing.
Coil is within spec between 1 (-) and 15 (+), but the other between 1 and center, it's 10,700 (should be 7200-8200). Not sure if that is a problem or not.
I've reworked the grounds at intake near thermostat, and the one on the cross frame under the radiator.
The car has not fired even once in this whole process. Basically there's no fuel pump and no spark. I've searched here and FB, and wondering what to do at this point. Thanks in advance for any input you all may have. This is about as stumped as I've been on a 900.
