The 007 dizzy had about 6" of wire and the oval connector spliced into the original wire coming to the distributor. Presumably the original distributor was a 010, at least that's what most lists show. Interestingly, on the splice the 007 wire and connector only had the green and brown wires, and the bare copper shielding. Whoever spliced it into the original wire soldered the green and brown together, and the shielding copper was soldered to the black which is a ground anyway. That setup was working.
I've soldered the new wire with square connector to the original wire with all colors matching, and I soldered the copper shielding together too for good measure. When I first did it, I had heat shrink on everything. As I started struggling to find a problem, I took the heat shrink off to make sure it was all good. Yep, seems to be.
One question- is the ignition control unit specific to certain distributors, or will they work with most or any of them? My ignition control unit is 0 227 100 147
Thanks
