Thanks for the update -- I wondered what you found out.

And, over the last month, I ran across the "mechanism" you have on your exhaust housing, and when I looked at it, I saw that clocking it could help get the tube orientation so it would reach. It has been off the car for a long time, not sure actually which car it came off of.

Regarding the boost / lack of it. I will guess the servo just isn't shutting it down. So, it's either open or closed. That circuit is very primative -- as boost builds, it opens the wastegate, not much control.

I have a low pressure turbo setup on my 1992 normally aspirated block. It won't go past 6 psi as it is set up to prevent overboost. You could google Dawes device and see if a simple spring loaded ball check valve would work to allow boost, but then when it hits a certain amount, the wastegate opens.

I would suggest you get a simple vacuum / boost gauge connected to the intake manifold to find out if the turbo is pressurizing the charge, and how much. Then, you have a baseline to try to set the dawes device. takes some thinking to figure out the boost signal circuit to open up the wastegate valve.
