See Anders' post that I linked to below.
Yes, part number 89 76 218 is for the 88-89 cars. That I understand. I'm trying to understand what I'm seeing for part number 40 02 267. If it really means that the same accumulator was using throughout all years of the 9000, then I'm thinking that I can try and find a later year 9000 being parted out. The more recent the 9000, the more life it'll have left.
I also remember Anders' post about not using used accumulators. Believe me, if I could just get a new one, I would. It looks like I have two bad accumulators--the one in the car and the one on my spare hydraulic unit. No matter which one is installed in the system, the pump runs, the fluid level doesn't drop, and it never reaches operating pressure (i.e. hard pedal). The lower pressure switch at least seems to be working properly since pressure is never reached, the pump is not told to switch off.
The only other thought I've had is that my pump is wired backwards, and is therefore pumping the wrong way. I had to replace some corroded wiring, and the plug-in connector was unable to be reused, so I used crimp connectors--one power (red), one ground (black). I'm thinking I may have put the wires on backwards (even though I was meticulous in keeping them straight).
DickT, thanks for your response and help with this--I know I've asked a lot of questions. BTW, I did get the ABS manual, and it is helpful for removal/disassembly, but the second half is how to use the SAAB ABS scanning tool!
Any other theories or thinking would be helpful and appreciated.
