I thought you said the PCV valve was broken, but you were describing a broken HOSE. That means your shopping list can delete the PCV valve itself, so you can get just the hose and probably a grommet, and a check valve if you're not confident the one you have is working.
To diagnose your check valve you can yank the hose off the intake end of the valve, and blow into the valve TOWARD the valve cover (i.e., away from the intake). You shouldn't be able to blow in this direction. If you can, you should replace the valve.
If you don't want to eat engine scum (hey, a little bit never hurt anybody), you should probably just replace the valve to be certain.
Remember, if you don't have a turbo, you won't have this valve to worry about.
