Hey y'all,
My g/f has the afore-mentioned car and the traction control appears to be acting up. It idles with the TCS light illuminated and the car basically is inoperable. It take a lot of throttle to get it to move at all. So essentially the car itself is inoperable.
In researching it appears the TCS is something to avoid altogether, but too little too late for us. Now that we have this problem, what are the likely causes/fixes for it? I am looking (unsuccessfully) for a manual locally, but may need to order one so I have nothing to help me troubleshoot the system.
I assume it uses the ABS sensors to sense wheelspeed, but uses the throttle body to reduce power. Is this correct? I've pulled several ABS fuses in hopes of making the TCS inoperable, but nothing's worked. While I want a long term fix for this, I'm not above doing something just to get the car running again. It's her only car! If we can't get it fixed ASAP, it'll likely gets "clunkered" in trade for a new car. :(
Thanks!
Tommy
