Thanks, I appreciate the help so far. So today I took a look under the hood and found this vaccuum tube on the intake manifold disconnected.

I plugged it back in and the car fired up and drove fine. A few hours later it was back to its old tricks, unfortunately. This issue seems to be very intermittent! Seems it happens about 50% of the time nowadays.
Ray, you mentioned a safety valve. I believe this is it, but should this hose be open to atmosphere like this? And I see part of a blue connector, but I assume this would have to be considered a black (and hence, old) safety valve?

Lastly, the above links also have an assortment of under hood shots I took today. If anyone sees anything out of the ordinary I would really appreciate you pointing it out to me.
