The new-to-me 96 CS (62K, automatic) has pretty poor gas mileage - about 20mpg for general driving. It improved slightly after replacing the spark plugs to NGK BCPR7ES-11 (they were Bosch something or other). Is replacing the O2 Sensor my next step? Whatelse could help?
Also, my indie informs me that the Mustang O2 sensor works only up to 95 model year. Need the Saab original from 96 on. Would like to get a 2nd opinion before paying the big bucks. Going one step backwards, how does one test the effectiveness of an O2 sensor? Wouldn't a defective O2 sensor cause the check-engine light to lit?
Thanks
