...for providing a great search engine. I recalled that Dr. Boost contributed a lot to the Performance board and found his post easily.
My old DI cassette (in service 76 months and over 68,000 miles) apparently wasn't producing enough voltage to run reliably under boost with the plug gap at .039". My fpt conversion didn't work until I reduced the gap to .036". The performance difference was immediate and very impressive. That was the right thing to do with my aged DI cassette but now I know not with a healthy new one.
I'm sure I can go back to 0.39" and get a modest improvement in performance, mpg and spark plug life, plus no harm done to the DI cassette. The gap should be worn close to 0.43" when I re-check 5,000 miles later.
Have learned much, thanks to Street, Bill Davies, AdamB & Dr Boost.
