The Engine Management manual 2:7 states the boost is reduced in 1st gear based on engine speed and vehicle speed. It has no reference to manual or automatic.
On another page it says the manual transmission has base boost in 1st.
In all cases there is base boost when the brakes are on.
The in 1st gear the automatics can generate more torque at the wheels than a manual, due to the 2.3 to 1 torque multiplication of the torque converter.
