If you order a complete axle assembly for an early 9k from anywhere (which is in theory the easiest and cheapest option) you get an axle that's the wrong length and won't work.

Maybe this happened, and now he's having to order the parts seperatly, which should be easy. It's not the axle itself that broke is it? If you need the axle itself, probably the only way to go is used.
