That did occur to me so I asked again, and he is adamant that everything was fine. Here's some thing I didn't include in my original post but may be relevant: To my recollection,(and it may be incorrect), when I first got to the car the pedal would go down without any resistance, but then would come back up. Not 100% certain about that. What I am certain about was the result of my first pressure bleed. After air bubbles stopped coming up the line and nipple was closed, the pedal had resistance from about halfway to the floor. Encouraged, I bled it again, found some more air. This time the pedal again showed resistance about halfway down. As I pushed further, near the floor the resistance suddenly disappeared, and the pedal stayed down, unlike before. Further pressure bleeding would then cause brake fluid to start pouring out the very bottom of the housing.
The pedal, if now down, "wants" to stay down, as if somewhat spring loaded into that position. The same thing happens when it's pulled up - it stays up.
Also, I have a speculation that involves the master. Is it conceivable that the master somehow didn't allow fluid to return and thus the slave didn't retract? Then, on the next bleed and pedal push the slave moved further - too far. If this is possible or correct, a new master will be also in order.
