Noel, I second what Simon S. said-> as long as you find the 'hidden' screw and proceed methodically the dashtop is actually kind of a fun job !
My 'while you're in there' list includes murdering the horrible 'shift up' light as well as a couple of others I won't mention - and always being super careful to get the boost gauge hose good & snug (I actually extended mine because it fell off before and is a nuisance if it does !).
I also recommend that for the tiny bulbs with plastic bases, rather than the $3 exact ones, I use a bagful of grain-of-wheat bulbs and solder them onto the old bases myself - it's very quick & easy.
Some guys apparently are going a step farther and soldering in bright white LEDs with resistors so thet'll truly last FOREVER !
Another fun dashtop day mod is changing the colour and/or brightness of the alarm LED.
You can easily get the same physically sized LED in orange, yellow, green, blue, etc. - and when it is rated at ten times brighter it is VERY easy to see at a distance in a crowded lot, especially since most cars do seem to use the demure little red ones.
(I also pushed mine through as much as possible so it really lights things up !)
Best Wishes.
