Now have 186k miles on my 95 9kCSE (isn't that the distance light travels in one second?). I have replaced numerous DI cassettes, a couple of BPC valves and I pre-emptively replaced the fuel pump after the one on my wife's 9k conked out and left us stranded in the middle of nowhere.
But as far as I know I am still on the original clutch and alternator (including the voltage regulator). I bought the car with 85k on it so it's possible the PO replaced these, but seems unlikely (no service history). Couple of questions:
- what's the expected life of the clutch? I always figured they weren't good for more than 100k miles but apparently they are. btw I had it tuned to stage 3 a few years ago, which is probably relevant
- is it worth replacing the voltage regulator pre-emptively? I carry a spare but it would be a pain to replace outside of my nice warm garage. Do you get any warning of imminent failure? I keep an eye on the voltage readout on the dash display but not sure if failure would show in gradual reduction in voltage or if it would go all of a sudden.
