Easy IAC clean up - first attempt before digging in Posted by Bill Homer [Email] (#3427) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Bill Homer) on Mon, 5 Nov 2012 09:39:27 In Reply to: Re: Classic dirty IAC symptoms......., Stephenie, Mon, 5 Nov 2012 09:29:51 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
The IAC is a bit difficult to get out, so before digging in you may want to try the easier approach first. Remove one of the hoses on the throttle body that leads to the IAC, easiest to get to the one on the driver's side of the car, "upwind" of the throttle body. Spray in your choice of cleaner, let it soak for a few minutes. Reconnect hose and start car.
Some here have said that harsh cleaners, i.e. carb, brake or electronics cleaner, may damage some plastic parts - but that's what I have been using.
