New idle valve arrived today. Started car to pull it into the garage - it revved to almost 3000 RPM then sloooooooowly settled down to maybe 1300. I'd estimate with the partially warmed-up engine it should have been idling around 900.
Opened hood, removed old idle valve, installed new one. Elapsed time about 10 minutes since I've done this so many times now. ;^) Started the engine. It revved to about 1200 RPM and quickly settled down to about 900. Fits my definition of "running perfectly". Once again I'm optimistic!
