The stuff that deposits on the shutter of the IAC valve is stuck on fairly well. Spraying something in there at best removes a small portion of the deposit. Even with the valve removed it takes a fair amount of cleaning to get it clean.
When removing the valve, it is easier to leave the bottom 'U' shaped hose attached to the valve and disconnect the upper end of the hose. The valve is mounted in an oval rubber collar that slides on a mounting pin. All very easy to do except the tight quarters.
