definitely check the oil pan first. Bits of metal in there will tell you that you need to go find another motor. But it's also a good idea to clean out the sump screen.
I put new oil pump gears in mine. They were hard to find for less than $175, but it's worth it for the peace of mind.
Also, you might run into some issues with certain parts not being available for the timing/balance chain kit. When I went to order mine last summer, a couple of the bolts for the guides and the bolt that holds the balance idler sprocket weren't available, and there was no ETA. It may be different now, but I simply went over to ACE hardware and was able to find a similar spec bolts to use.
