I do remember now that I also replaced a clutch line

The clutch master is under the dashboard, actuated directly off the clutch, and a metal hydraulic fluid line comes off of that, goes through the firewall and into the engine compartment. In my '91 9kT (rust in peace), I developed a pinhole leak in that line that was only detectable when someone was depressing the clutch pedal. There was so little fluid escaping that I saw no puddle on the ground. Just some fluid on the engine side of the firewall. But my clutch hydraulic pressure was low, so I knew there was a problem. Replacing that line is a little tricky, as you have to snake it up through the firewall, and there's a grommet that you have to get in place. IIRC, I also replaced the clutch master at the same time, as the car had about 225K miles on it and I was "in there," as they say.
