Sounds like maybe you need to tear the engine down there may be a lack of oil pressure. I actually had a car get a piece of silicone plugged up in the head and wasn't allowing oil to flow through to the lifters and the lifters were noisy. Hope that's not what the problem is. But I've had two $9,000 subs when I bought them they were completely sludged up so take the valve cover off and take a look underneath the valve cover if it's completely coated in gunk it's probably best to tear the engine apart and get it cleaned up I actually blew one of those engines up from lack of oiling. When the previous owners don't take care of the oil changes it can happen. So when I got another engine I took a completely apart there was a bunch of stuff in the bottom of the oil pan blocking the pick up tube. So now anytime I get a new 9000 motor I take it apart and make sure it's getting proper oil pressure. You can also take the oil sensor off the back of the block and plug in a oil pressure so you can actually get a number and see what the oil pressure is actually running at. That's probably the first thing I would do to diagnose what the oil pressure is and it's not that difficult. Let us know what you find out. Good luck
