Maybe a silly question, but how do I check the reservoir cap? It is on there, coolant is cycling through the reservoir tank when I play with the throttle. It is isn't leaking either, from the cap.
Getting the rad checked out sounds like a sensible thing, even if it is not the core of the problem, sounds like it will help.
