Hi Magnus, "complety insane"? That is pretty heavy. There are good arguments for diesel engines in many situations. Wabbit diesels have always had astounding gas mileage. Every truck on the highway wherever you are is a diesel. If gassers would work better in that application, you would never see a diesel truck. If there would be a good diesel engine that could be adapted to a Saab, it would be worth considering, that is the question raised in the thread. "Completely insane" is a little strong.
Back to facts, no, there is no practical way to refit a diesel to a vintage Saab. It has probably been done, impracticably. A Wabbit diesel is where I would start, if I had to start.
