maybe that's the thing to do: i'll strip the lenses and grill pieces and trip off the car, do a little sanding, take it to maaco and talk long and hard w/ the guys there...and when they screw it up, i'll just refuse to accept the work?
sounds like i just can't afford the original materials, so maybe this is my best bet.
Lee
Jeez Lee, I dunno. Maytbe I am reading it wrong, but it sounds like you want a quality job but don't want to pay for it, so you will hook up with a lesser outfit (don't know what Maaco is myself) and then refuse to pay because they didn't do the job you want? Am I misreading here?
I don't know your area which will make a big difference in cost. Just in a very general sort of way I would think that any paint job worth having will be $1-$2K in the US. Anything for $500 is more cosmetic than quality. For a full restoration paint job the sky is the limit, but I think you can get a pretty good job for $5-$10K. I would rather see you determine your price level and then see what you can get for what you are willing to afford, than to try to snooker someone into delivering more than you care to pay for.
Scope out a trustworthy operator and you can discuss options and you will get what you pay for. What more do you want?
