I don't want to scare you away, but want you to be realistic. These cars will beg for your attention, in terms of repairs. Don't get me wrong, I still love my Saab (96 900 SE Turbo). I bought it from sweet old grandma(original owner) who drove it and taken care of it until 65k. During my 9 months and 16k miles of ownership so far, I had to replace head gasket, brakes & heater hose. I have yet to fix seat relay, engine mount, leak somewhere in AC system, pass door latch, O2 sensor and/or DI (check engine light is on), power antenna, and possibly a turbo, SID, brakes again. You will see that my Saab has typical Saab problems in this TSN board. So I conclude that Saabs are for Do It Yourselfers (DIY), or for people who have the money to pay someone else to maintain. I had owned a 1995 Pontiac Transport for 7 years (120k). I only changed oil and tuned up 2 times, changed brakes/tires once. That was IT, until I sold it and bought this Saab. While I don't miss the ugly reliable Pontiac, I am learning a lot about DIY (I replace the head gasket myself) much more than I thought. Choose wisely. Unless you REALLY love Saabs, you may end up hating it.
Good Luck.
