Yep, read the archives just a few minutes ago. GREAT information there. Including a post or two I made several months ago! :-)

I sold my 9-3SE over the summer after just over three years of (mostly) happy motoring. I loved the performance of my 9-3, especially the handling. Hated the low-speed throttle response (mine was a 185hp automatic) and I hated the interior rattles.

Now I'm back in the market again for a sports sedan. I'd like the new Audi A4, but I don't think one makes financial sense for me right now- especially with deals that some automakers are offering on '01s and '02s. So I've decided it's either going to be a 2002 9-3SE or a 2001/02 Volvo S60. The Volvo would either be a base or a 2.4T. I love some of the new features on the 9-3s, and I bet that they'd correct some of my complaints. The TCS system, 20 extra hp, new accessory armrest and availability of factory 16" wheels w/out the sports suspension are pluses. I'll install some aftermarket swaybars and I bet I'd have the best combination of ride/handling. I thought my SE rode too stiffly. However, these Volvos look pretty good. And they're offering great discounts for such a new model.

Anyways, I haven't test driven either the Saab or the Volvo yet. But I know what the Saab drives like, more or less. I'm going to drive a Volvo this weekend. For those of you who have driven or owned both vehicles, what should I look for? Anything that will for certain take away my interest in the S60? How about the newer 9-3s- do they still rattle after a few months? Have the seats changed at all? Mine was terrible with rattles, and I never really got all that comfortable in the seats.

My father had a '94 Volvo 850. I loved the throttle response, seats and roominess of the interior. It felt HUGE inside. Also smelled great! (Volvos and Saabs have a distinct smell-both great!) However, I was underwhelmed with the S70 compared to the 9-3. Maybe that will happen when I drove the S60?

Any insight ya'll can offer would be very helpful in my decision-making process.
