My tank is about 1/2 full (1/2 empty?) and I do feel the need to get it mostly empty prior to dropping it. I still plan on supporting it when I drop the straps--at least I can get a feel for what it weighs, and what it wants to do, before I drop it on my chest.
This will be the first time I've done a NG fuel pump, but I can't think of any reason why I can't empty the fuel tank this way--if the pump can be made to run one last time. The only sticking point with this plan is disconnecting the (GM?) fuel line couplings in the engine compartment--I think I still have the right tool for it, and if not, I'll just pull the line at the filter. Any Idea which one (under the hood) is the supply? The big one or the little one?
I do plan on just using the pump itself, and not the whole assembly, so breaking the retainer tab is going to be a concern...Slow and easy--we'll see. I'd rather spend the $150 (napa) for the pump than the $550 at the dealer (or even $450 from site sponsers...). Of course, if this plan does go south, then I'll just get the whole assembly...
36F Sunday...We'll see then how warm I feel--
BobH
