thermostat (sorry, a little descriptive) Posted by bender [Email] (#268) [Profile/Gallery] (more from bender) on Sat, 5 Jan 2008 21:43:52 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi all....The temp gauge has been acting very weird and is inaccurate. (changed coolant..) I have changed the temp sensor, so that is brand new and should be working fine. have been driving the car for about 2 months like this (00 9-3). Now, I'm guessing that the problem lies in the thermostat. The temperature gauge never goes past the 9 o-clock mark (halfway mark), but it does go down to the cold zone, and up again to 9, but the car is giving me heat no problem. (ie...everything is working FINE) So, I would like to perform the t-stat fix on my own, to isolate the problem, but it is damn cold. My question is (If problem is in fact the t-stat...) can I drive the car like this for 3 or so more months, and then replace it, or should I get to this NOW. (I don't want any damage to the head, warping or anything of that sort....my main concern) Is there a test I should perform, do any of you see an obvious prob, or am I one of those unlucky guys with an actual faulty temp gauge?
Thank you, for any tips.....driving like this is getting stressful. bender.
