I've heard that a good way to avoid this getting stuck (or worse) is to back into the parking spot. So when you leave in the morning, you start out forward instead of in reverse. If you start out in reverse and the parking brake pads are frozen to the wheel, it will really mess up the parking brake lines.
Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, but this is what I do to prevent frozen parking brakes (or worse)!
