I think what Joel suggested is a good starting point. Yeatingthe tiresay speeds, then change tires to see if it helps at all. I know that just because a tire is good or and expensive doesn't mean it will fix all problems. But if you have a crap tire to start with it may be causing other issues all together. I've had my share of ok tires, and I decided that I had enough of mediocre tires. Like I mentioned before I had the car aligned, and apparently they didn't touch the rear wheels or any camber or caster on front. But the alignmnet issues are for a whole other post.
Pete, to see if there was wear on the shaft, did you have to remove the entire knuckle? And did you just get lucky by only needing to do one side?
