I have a love/hate relationship with all the stuff I own, its just when the hate overrides the love, it's a sign. A sign that the object no longer meets your requirements, of which can be 'dependability' (you can tell which drivers see that one as #1, or Toyota would probably not exist ; )
I agree that the Viggen is not perfect and some of these misgivings do bother me (rear windows that don't open on the Coupe, that low bumper, the crappy spot welds welds visible whenever you open the sunroof or doors, the peeling emblems, etc) but damn I love that car!
I love the way it looks whenever I approach it....ready to pounce!
I love the way the seat hold me!
I love the way the engine sounds when I start it and especially when it's in it's sweet spot around 3K under WOT (thanks some to GS).
I love the torque steer (even though tamed by many GS goodies and a Quaife) and knowing that not just anyone can drive this car (they won't find the ignition for starters ; )
I love how it handles! Yes it took some work to get there but well worth it! Again, GS's many braces front and rear help lots.
I love the intoxicating acceleration (again thanks to Nordic and GS for some additional help). Not only does this car accelerate at low speed but on the highway it tempts me with the threat of losing my license every time!
I love the amazing gas mileage I get despite the way I drive and the number of horses I have to feed!
I love the feel of driving it, how the engine communicates through the shifter. pedals and steering wheel (again, I have to admit some help from GS with mounts and short shifter).
I love the bikes, camping gear, kayaks, and junk I can put in the trunk and elsewhere and still have more fun driving! I'm so glad I have no want or need for an SUV or mini van!!!!
Out of the box the Viggen is great but with some help, it's amazing and I will forgive it's short comings for a very long time and I will take the best care of it that I can so that long time, is well, long.
Leslie, I truly think that your relationship started on the wrong foot and sometimes that just cannot be corrected. You bought a bad one, period. Many of the issues you speak of can and should be corrected. Then you can move to the next level and modify it so that you can see it's full potential.
Or, as others have suggested, break the relationship and start a new one.
