Bill, sorry I didn't see your follow-up message til just now when I am now seeking solutions for another coolant situation.
First of all, I did have a bad resistor. Purchased two from Digikey and made a mount from an old license plate. Mounted both, so when one goes bad, all I have to do is pull wires fitted with small female spades. Works pretty well, but the spades have come off the resistor several times.
My current situation is a pinhole in a coolant hose. It is the hose that seems to run to the heater core from the engine. The hole is about an inch or so out from the engine-side clamp.
It looks like a PITA to replace. As long as I'm in there, should I replace other stuff? Car is a 2000 Viggen with 114k miles.
