Awhile back, my neighbor backed into the drivers side door of my 2000 9-3. To make a long story short, an insurance claim was made, and the car was in for repair. They decided to replace the entire door exterior. The collision apparently caused the door to drop down in the frame , creating annoying wind noise. So, this would need to be corrected as well.
Today, I go to get the car. All LOOKS well, but I wisely asked for the keys. Upon turning the car on, the airbag light came on. Left the car at the shop, and within less than 3 hours , the insurance rep called back claiming they "checked out" the code, and it's pointing to a faulty clock spring on the drivers side door.
The car had no airbag light issue prior to the repair. Also, about 3 years ago, I had an indy here in Florida (justin) replace both the airbag sensors. I had not had any airbag trouble from then ... until now.
Needless to say, I'm convinced through the door replacement , minor fender work, or something else ... they managed to break a connection or do something to mess up my airbag system.
Could anyone shed any light on what probably happened here? I've done work on the power windows and locks in the past, but I'm not sure on any other wiring connections. Also not sure how they checked the code without a tech2. The other thing that is quite "coincidental" is the fact they are saying the code is driver's side, which is right where they were working.
Thanks much for any help!
