The clockspring is in the steering wheel. There isn't one in the door, so they're not telling you what the real problem is. There may be some kind of impact sensor in the door for the side airbag, though. If they did work on the door, didn't disconnect the battery, and upset an airbag sensor in some way, then it probably just needs to be reset. The 9-3 does have the ability to reset its own airbag light after so many starts if there isn't a real fault, though.
