I hooked the test light up to the the battery’s positive terminal and these are the results:
Cool & middle temp engine:
Only lit on Pin 87 of both relays.
Hot engine:
Lit on 87 & 85 of low speed relay.
Dimly lit on only Pin 87 of high speed relay; gets brighter when relay shuts off.
Pulling the high speed relay when the fan is finally running does nothing. Pulling the low speed relay while fan is running cuts power to the fan. This happens with both the old and newly bought relays.
To clarify, the fan only ever comes on when the engine is VERY hot, and even then, only cycles on for a brief time. It seems like when the low speed fan should be running, I get nothing; and when the high speed fan should be running, I get the low speed fan acting like it’s the high speed fan.
There’s definitely a noticeable fan speed difference when I jump the high vs low speed relays, so it seems like I’ve got the fan wired correctly.
