Kevin,

You're definitely NOT the only person who has experienced this.

A little more than a year ago, my wife bought a '99 9-5 from the nearest dealer. I won't say their name, but they're the only Saab dealer in West Palm Beach. ;^)

I've owned Saabs for years and have always done my own work, but because of the complexity of the new car we decided to get the extended warranty the dealer offered, figuring I'd do the simple/cheap stuff and we'd let the dealer handle the complex stuff.

Well to begin with, they don't seem able to accomplish *anything*, even something as simple as balancing tires, without having the car for a week or more. And the tire balancing was part of their attempts to fix a vibration problem that has not been solved in 4 separate visits.

On 3 of the visits, we asked them to repair/replace a leaking power-steering hose I had noticed while under the car changing the oil. Twice they said they could not locate the leak, the third time they denied the hose exists (I have photos of it, leaking).

I can't remember what the original complaint was (e-brake problem?) but one time we took it in for something that required disassembly of the center console. When we got it back, whenever we ran the A/C (pretty much always in FL) the rear carpets would get wet. Had to take it back for another 2-week visit to get that rectified.

Another time there was a climate-control problem that required major disassembly of the dash (just this problem nearly paid for the warranty), and presumably evac & recharge of the A/C system. When we got the car back, the cap was missing from the refrigerant service fitting under the hood.

And now the "check engine" light is on, my OBDII scanner shows a code indicating a "small leak in the evaporative emission system". I've reset the light twice and it keeps coming back.

I've bet my wife $50 that they just reset the light and claim they can't find a problem...
