>>>1. Does synthetic oil cause leaks when switching to it.

No synthetic oil on the market today will attack any gasket or seal material in current use. If you have not maintained the engine well, and gunk has covered some of the seals, they may have dried out. Changing to synthetic, or even to another brand of non-synthetic, can clean false seals and you'll find your pre-existing leaks.

2. If I use SEMI synthetic, would it NOT cause the leaks?

See above.

>>3. Do you have to FLUSH the motor out before switching to synthetic?

No, but it would be a good idea. A good flush, such as AMSOIL or BG, will remove the sludge and gunk in the engine without chunking anything. A good synthetic will do the same thing, just more slowly, and you might have to change the oil filter after a couple of thousand miles.

>>4. Do you recommend I switch?
That's your decision. If the engine is sound and not leaking, I'd change in a heartbeat were it mine.

5. Larger oil filter are good to use, what LARGER oil filter can I pick up at my local autozone parts store? Im using purolator PUREONE. What size could I use instead of the stadnard?

No need to go to a larger filter. I've been using the 1 cup filters in my Saabs for years now.

I strongly recommend a good synthetic with Group IV base stocks. AMSOIL recommends up to three times the recommended drain interval, or six months for turbos. I use 10,000 miles or a year in my three turbos (2 Saab, 1 Volvo).
