Black ice in October 2001 sent my 3 week old 1992 325i head on into a guard rail. Had the rail not been there, my brother and I would have had a quick ride 200ft down into a gorge.
While guard rails seem unneccessary 99.99% of the time, they prove there value by saving lives in a few exceptional situatuions. Kinda like seatbelts, airbags, missle defence systems and the tin foil hats that keep aliens from meddling with our minds.
After reading about my accident, I don't want you guys feeling too bad for me, as in the end everything worked out for the best. I bought the BMW for $6300, insurance gave me $12,000 and the day after the crash I found a 1999 9-3 Convertible on Ebay for $13600.
