...This means that water will not short out the system as quickly as an AC system (such as the one in your house. Hence, your electric doors and windows and lights should work for a while after the car is submerged. If you were to drive a car into the water the electrical components still work provided that they were not damaged during impact. On most cars your power locks can be manually operated as well so this shouldn't cause any problem with regards to getting out. However, if your under-water and the car is not filled with water, the best thing to do is let the car fill most of the way up to equalize the pressure, and open the door or break the window. Obviously, it's a great idea to have a device that can smash a car window. Maglites work great for this. The best means of not going drowning is to stay out of the water with your car. :)
