"With some of Toyota's underpinnings to play with, we've got a beautiful Brit example of art in motion with performance AND reliability."
Specifically, read TOYOTA'S underpinnings - motor, transmission. That's what I've seen when reading up on the car. It's no longer a Rover I4 driving the Lotus, but rather a Toyota motor and tranny (from the Celica GT, methinks, but it's been reworked and tweaked by Lotus). Otherwise, I agree - Brit cars have never been overly known for longevity or trouble-free maintenance schedules.
And when I say art in motion, I can't help but think of some of the beautiful lines Jag has had throughout its history. I'm a die-hard coupe guy, but I think Jag defines what a sexy sedan can look like.
