I visited my local SAAB dealer to get a new key for my 900 and asked about the new 9-3SS. I was dismayed to learn that it is not available with cloth interior! What is the world coming to?!!
Seems like a general trend, though. Just out of curiosity I stopped by a BMW dealer and asked about their least expensive car, the 325i. It is also leatherette or leather only. I believe one can get semi-cloth seats with 330i Performance Package (big bucks.)
Am I the only one who thinks that leather seats are very uncomfortable, smelly, slippery, creaky, sticky, etc., etc.?! I would rather have a Hyundai with cloth seats than a SAAB with leather.... To me it makes a world of difference, especially now with side airbags. It used to be if you don't like the seats, you can just swap in some cool Recaros. Not anymore, not if you want all the integral safety systems working as designed.
