Our Alfa has been pretty trouble free and is a really fun car to drive. Still a new convertible top is $1000 USD installed, a set of Koni shocks are over $300 USD for parts, the center and rear mufflers cost $100 USD each and rot out every 3 years, etc. My point being that they are not inexpensive to maintain.
If you want one and have the funds, and a local independent mechanic who knows Alfas, then they are a classic car at a reasonable price.
