Thanks for the advice and the hope that maybe my insurance company might waive the deductible. And that maybe the increase won't be too severe. I will ask them about that. It's Progressive insurance by the way.
And, I will be shortly posting some notices nearby where the car was parked--to at least try the slim chance that someone heard and saw something. Unfortunately, the car was parked 3 blocks away from my girlfriend's apartment (tough to find parking spots in SF) so I can't count on a "friendly next door neighbor" to have heard/seen something and made a note of the license plate--if they could have even seen it...
And very true, the repair bill could be VERY expensive indeed...I couldn't afford the repairs previously on my classic 900 when it was hit 2 separate times in hit & run incidents, but fortunately they weren't mechancial, "just" ugly dents & scrapes that I had to live with...hopefully something will work out with the deductible being waived and not a severe increase in the rate...because this is serious mechanical work that of course needs to be repaired perfectly.
