Had a similar thing happen in a parking lot 2 years ago. Someone slid on ice going too fast into a parking spot. 2000 bucks to repair my Olds. Even though it was a bar parking lot,my insurance company was okay with it as long as a police report was filed. This I did the following day. Their reasoning I guess is that if you file a report you didn't do the damage yourself. Result was insurance paid, with no rate increase. Did get nailed for the deductible. I live outside Toronto and that is the way it works here. By the way, your tow truck driver can be witness to the fact that the car couldn't have been driven into the spot in the shape he found the car in. Hope this is of some help.
