go w/ premium kibbles (Canidae, Wysong, Solid Gold, Innova, Chicken Soup, etc.). I switched from IAMS to Canidae about 6 months ago and the difference is amazing. My Newfie/Retriever finally gained some much needed weight (3 lbs) and his stool has reduced by over 1/3.
Most grains, especially corn/cornmeal & wheat, are useless in a dog's diet. Look at IAMS/Eukanuba's ingredients and you'll see corn/wheat used as top5 ingredients.
Also, as a reminder, when you DO switch kibbles, go easy. Switching kibbles presents a severe shock to a dog's digestive system. mix in the new 25% at a time. give him/her a few days, then ease in another 25%, etc. Until you've completely switched him/her off the old kibbles.
