This is a terrible tragedy, but I don't think justice was necessarily served.
Granted, I don't have all the facts of the case. However, it seems that Rolf was going very fast, then had to slow down and tailgate this woman driving the Kia. That means at the time of the accident, he was traveling no faster than she was. Sounds like he was tailgating, but at those reasonable speeds the behaviour wouldn't qualify for more than a traffic ticket.
Should he have left the scene of the accident? No. But it is possible that after she swerved he simple passed her (before her car left the road) and never looked back.
I guess they don't have "reasonable doubt" in Germany.
I suspect this guy's profession (test driver) and nickname (Turbo Rolf) had an impact on the outcome here. This completely prejudicial information is irrelevant shouldn't have been a factor.
